Tom Huddlestone has told Stadium Astro that Hugo Lloris isn’t vocal enough for a goalkeeper and Tottenham as a whole are lacking someone of that ilk at the back.

The former Spurs midfielder also pointed out that someone like Ledley King, who joined Jose Mourinho’s backroom staff over the summer, ‘won’t be happy’ at the fact that Spurs are yet to keep a clean sheet this season.

Over the weekend, it was the capitulations of all capitulations from Tottenham as they somehow let three goals in during the last ten minutes to draw 3-3 with West Ham – even Lloris, 33, was left helpless in trying to prevent anything from happening.

Huddlestone, who would have shared a dressing room with King during his days at White Hart Lane, shared that the North London club are missing a player of his calibre on the field.

“Ledley won’t be happy with that,” Huddlestone told Stadium Astro. “They probably could have done with him out there in the second half against West Ham.

“But if you look at the Tottenham team. You have got Lloris as captain, who probably isn’t as vocal as some goalkeepers. Harry Kane seems to be a great leader on and off the field.

“Other than that, you look at the team and you haven’t got that John Terry type of centre-back., who is barking orders at everybody and it’s almost as if his life depends on a clean sheet. You look through the Tottenham team and there aren’t many vocal leaders demanding that everybody gets in their place and does their job.”

Mourinho is known for his strong and robust defences, so if he’s struggling to keep clean sheets then you know there are problems.

One of the issues for Spurs is that they are still trying to find a settle midfield and backline.

There has been too many changes from the defensive side and Mourinho needs to find a centre-back duo he can run with for the long run and hope his midfielders follow suit by putting in performances that simply make them undroppable.
