Huddersfield Town boss says lesson learned, after clash with Leeds’ Garry Monk.

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner has been reflecting on his clash with Garry Monk this past weekend.

Wagner and the Leeds United head coach had to be pulled apart after Monk objected to his over exuberant celebrations after Michael Hefele’s 89th minute winner.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of Huddersfield’s clash with QPR, Wagner admits he was wrong to run onto the pitch.

He told Radio Yorkshire: “I think I know what I have done wrong and I know what wasn’t my mistake. This is something I totally know, that I run on the pitch and celebrate with my players, I have to try to work on myself and get this under control, but as I said mistakes happen, this is what I said to my players as well.

“This was such an emotional and exciting moment for us at this minute of the game. Can I apologise for what I have done there? I will learn my lessons out of this. I have to respect the British culture it is different from Germany.”

The clash led to a melee with players from both sides rushing to back up their managers and having to be pulled apart.

Both Monk and Wagner have been charged by the FA and have until today (10/2) to respond.

The win saw Huddersfield record a league double over Leeds, and leapfrog the Whites into fourth place in the Championship table.

There is a very real chance the two teams will meet in the play-offs as it stands, and the scenes in the dugout could be worth the admission price alone.
