Hull City’s Fraizer Campbell has been linked with a move to Huddersfield Town.
According to the Hull Daily Mail, Huddersfield Town face overseas competition for the signature of Hull City’s Fraizer Campbell with the striker’s future still in limbo due to his contract situation.
The former Sunderland man’s deal at the KCOM Stadium expires this summer. Hull have already passed on the option of extending his contract by a further 12 months as they look to cut the wage bill.
The Tigers, however, have hinted that they would be keen for Campbell to remain at the club. It may require the player to take a pay-cut, or for the club to move on a few other high earners first.
The 31-year-old’s future is in limbo. The Hull Daily Mail claims Campbell is willing to listen to a new contract offer from Hull as he is settled at the club, although he is being eyed up by potential suitors.
Huddersfield Town have been accredited with an interest. The Terriers will be looking to bolster their squad this summer as they deal with relegation from the Premier League.
Campbell has been one of Hull’s better players this season, scoring 12 goals and grabbing a further six assists in 31 Championship starts. He has plenty of experience and know-how at Championship level.
Huddersfield will be setting their sights on a promotion charge next season. The Yorkshire club struggled to find the net in the Premier League. Bolstering their forward options with a free transfer would make sense.
But the report claims Huddersfield could now face competition from abroad for Campbell’s signature, with the growing number of suitors harming Hull’s chances of keeping him on reduced terms.
