The Huddersfield goalkeeper will spend 2019-20 on loan at Pride Park and the Rams faithful have been warned by some Terriers fans.

A number of Huddersfield Town fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on goalkeeper Ben Hamer joining Derby County on a season-long loan (official Rams website).

The Rams were involved in one of the most leftfield transfer dealings on deadline day this year when back-up goalkeeper Scott Carson left Pride Park for a stint at Premier League champions Manchester City.

As a result, Derby moved to bring in another custodian to provide cover for Rams first-choice stopper Kelle Roos, with Terriers chairman Phil Hodgkinson confirming earlier in the summer that Hamer would be available on loan (Examiner Live).

“It is important to have strength in depth across all positions and Ben Hamer provides more competition in our goalkeeping department,” Phillip Cocu told the official Derby website. “I am sure Ben will fit into the group we have and be another important member of the squad.”

The 31-year-old played seven times for Huddersfield in the Premier League last season after joining from Leicester City in July 2018, but in those seven appearances he shipped 21 goals (Transfermarkt).

Judging by the reaction on social media, it doesn’t seem like many Terriers fans rated him particularly highly, and they made their Rams counterparts well aware of this, particularly one blunder he made in the FA Cup third-round loss to Bristol City:
