Arsenal fans are struggling to understand why the club are seemingly willing to allow Lucas Torreira to join Atletico Madrid on loan, without an obligation to buy.
The Athletic and the Daily Mail have both reported how Arsenal are now ready to offload Torreira, but only on a temporary deal.
To make matters more confusing, it is claimed that Atleti will not be forced to purchase him at the end of the season.
The Spanish club are expected to have an option to buy the Uruguayan, but they will only activate it if he is a success.
With Arsenal looking to raise funds for Houssem Aouar or Thomas Partey, the potential deal may not be as valuable as the club were hoping.
And many Gunners fans are confused as to why they are sanctioning such a transfer.
If Torreira does leave on loan, it could mean that Arsenal simply cannot afford Aouar, unless they sell some other fringe players.
Any failure to land the Frenchman would be a major disappointment at this point, as he is one of Mikel Arteta’s top targets.
And Arsenal supporters will hope that the club can find a way to finance a move for Aouar, even if Torreira isn’t set to bring in a huge amount.
