Newcastle face Southampton on Thursday evening in a meeting between two of the Premier League’s in-form teams.

The Magpies are unbeaten in 2022 and the threat of relegation now looks like a distant memory for the Tyneside outfit.

Meanwhile, Southampton have lost just one of their last eight games, and while that defeat came in embarrassing fashion against Aston Villa at the weekend, they’re still in very good form.

Eddie Howe has managed to navigate some tough challenges as of late, but Southampton pose a serious threat here.

With that in mind, we’ve had a go at predicting Newcastle’s starting XI for this one.

We think Eddie Howe will make just one change from the team that beat Brighton.

Allan Saint-Maximin came off of the bench against the Seagulls, and we’re anticipating a return to the starting XI for the Frenchman here.

Ryan Fraser moves out to the right-wing as Saint-Maximin returns to his favoured role, with Jacob Murphy dropping to the bench.

Other than that, it’s the team we’ve grown accustomed to seeing in recent weeks, there’s still no room for Bruno Guimaraes in this starting XI, while Joelinton continues his revival in the midfield.
