Marcelo Bielsa has worked wonders at Leeds United following his appointment last summer and he will be hoping to end the campaign with promotion.

Howard Wilkinson has stated that he has seen a ‘change’ at Leeds United under Marcelo Bielsa this season and what you actually see with the popular coach is ‘very little’.

The Elland Road icon, who was the last manager to win the English First Division title at Leeds, interestingly used an ‘iceberg’ analogy when talking about Bielsa.

It has been over a decade since the Whites tasted top-flight football and under Bielsa’s stewardship, they are the closest they have ever been to ending that barren run.

Speaking to LS11’s official YouTube account (10/04/2019), Wilkinson offered his thoughts on Bielsa and the job he has done at Elland Road this season.

“I don’t know him, so I can only judge by what I see,” Wilkinson told LS11. “And what you see is actually very little. You see the game and the game is like an iceberg. The game is one-seventh of what is going on beneath the water and that bits the important bit.

“To judge a man in the 360 degrees way when you don’t have all the evidence other than what you see on Saturday can be very difficult. But what I have seen is a change. There’s a change.

“There’s a change in results and the change in results has been become of the fact that they have got a way of playing, they have got a way of doing things, which has made them better. I listen to other people and individuals are 10 or 12 or 15% better than they were last season in terms of output.”

Last summer, Leeds made the decision to appoint the world-renowned Bielsa as their coach, and with little transfer activity, he has turned around the fortunes of the club.

The Argentine took over a team that finished in mid-table last season and has taken the majority of those players and turned them into promotion contenders.

At this moment in time, they are sitting second in the Championship table and promotion to the Premier League, at this moment in time, is in their own hands.
