Celtic edged out Mark Warburton’s Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers 1-0 on Sunday.

Former Premier League referee Howard Webb has claimed on BT Sport that Erik Sviatchenko’s goal should have counted in Celtic’s 1-0 win over Rangers on Sunday.
The 25-year-old thought he opened the scoring early in the second half when he guided his header past a helpless Matt Gilks in the Rangers goal.
But referee Craig Thomson chalked it off on the basis that the Celtic man fouled Gers’ centre-back Clint Hill moments before he found the net.

Television replays indicated that it looked a very harsh decision by Thomson, and veteran official Webb has agreed that the Dane’s header should have counted.
Asked on BT Sport if he made the wrong decision, Webb said: “I think he did, but I love listening to these commentators and people who cast judgement. Craig has one view and it’s a crowded penalty area, and at full speed I can totally see why Craig has disallowed it.

“Do I think it should’ve been a goal? Yes I do, but I have the benefit of seeing the replays.”
Fortunately for Thomson, Celtic still won as an 87th-minute winner from Moussa Dembele broke Rangers’ heart and resolve and the Hoops move into the final of the Scottish League Cup, where they meet Aberdeen at Hampden Park next month.
It was an okay match which would have been soured had the referee ended up as a major talking point, but he ended up a mere subplot in this Old Firm clash instead.
