Not much was made of Celtic’s decision to sell Liam Henderson in January.

After all, the 21-year-old had only managed 23 minutes of football in any competition for Celtic this season and his contract was set to expire this summer.

When Serie B side Bari offered £115,000 to sign him (Daily Record), accepting seemed like a no-brainer.

But fast forward a few months and Henderson, who has two goals in 11 starts for the Italian outfit, might well be playing Serie A football next season.

Henderson, who joined Celtic in 2013, scored in the 1-1 draw against Salernitana this past weekend to ensure that Bari are only four points adrift of automatic promotion to Italy’s top flight, with eight league games to go.

Nobody can argue that the Hoops weren’t right to offload him, because he would have left for free in the coming months, but perhaps the Premiership giants might regret only picking up a £115k fee for him.

He is already proving his worth to Bari, but if Henderson is a Serie A player by August, which looks very possible, then surely it is the Italian side who got the better side of the deal.
