Ricky Holmes is expected to be revealed as a Sheffield United player today (January 15) after completing a move from Charlton Athletic.
As the Star reported, Holmes was at the Steel City derby against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday (January 12) night after completing a medical at Bramall Lane.

The 30-year-old has finally made the switch to the Blades after being tracked by manager Chris Wilder over the summer as well, but where will the forward fit in?
Holmes generally operates as a winger and has scored six goals in 23 League One matches this season playing primarily on the flanks.

Yet Wilder uses the same 3-4-1-2 formation for United in the Championship that saw them win the English third tier last term that utilises wing-backs out wide.
In the current system Holmes is therefore likely to be competing for one of the two striker roles, or does the signing of the attacker – whom the United boss worked with at Northampton Town – suggest a change of tactics could be in the offing?
