Emi Martinez has praised loaned-out Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Giovani Lo Celso, on Instagram for his recent performances on Argentina duty.

Heading into the 2022 World Cup, Argentina are one of the favourites after ending their recent international campaign with two friendly wins against Honduras and Jamaica.

Lo Celso started both of those matches for his nation, and when he posted on his IG that Argentina end their tour with a ‘good feeling’, Aston Villa shot-stopper Emi Martinez posted in the comments section: “How well you play football.” Added with clapping and fire emojis.

LO CELSO’S FUTURE LIES AWAY FROM SPURS

For the second season running, Spurs have been happy to see Lo Celso loaned out, and once again, he is donning the colours of Villarreal.

Last season, they caused quite a few upsets, including knocking Bayern Munich out of the Champions League, only to be beaten in the semi-finals by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Even though Lo Celso arrived on Premier League shores for big-money, when Mauricio Pochettino was in the dugout, it just hasn’t worked out for him in north London.

Antonio Conte has a number of industrious and hard-hitting midfielders to pick from, with January capture, Rodrigo Bentancur and the ever-present Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg the main guys, whilst summer signing Yves Bissouma and academy product, Oliver Skipp are the back-ups.

From a defensive aspect, Lo Celso can’t match those players and they are more physical in the middle of the pitch than the 26-year-old.

But, on the ball, he could argue he is more forward-thinking ability and control than the above four, as well as having the versatility to his game, such as being able to play out wide, which he has done on the international stage.

Despite that, it’s pretty clear he won’t be on Tottenham’s books for too long, but those struggles at Hotspur Way haven’t affected him too much because he is still part of Argentina’s plans heading to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
