Tottenham Hotspur fans reacted to Kieran Trippier’s performance in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The one-time Spurs favourite was back on familiar soil when his Atletico Madrid side were knocked out of Europe by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Whilst Atletico are flying high in La Liga, it was an easy night for Thomas Tuchel’s men, who recorded a 2-0 win on the night and 3-0 victory on aggregate.
Spurs fans were keen to share their thoughts on Trippier and how some feel they have gone downhill in the right-back department since they sold him in 2019.
Summer signing Matt Doherty and Serge Aurier are the men tasked to patrol Tottenham’s right-side, and it seems some Spurs fans still prefer the Englishman over the current duo.
Whisper it slowly to the Spurs supporters, but when the final ball is kicked at the end of this COVID-hit campaign then it might just prove to be a nightmare scenario for those in North London.
Spurs might end up without Champions League football, no trophies and their recent departures – Trippier and Christian Eriksen – winning league titles in their respective countries.
