It is well known that Daniel Levy is one of the savviest chairmen in the Premier League when it comes to the transfer market.
Levy has overseen a world record sale when Gareth Bale left for Real Madrid in 2013, as well as receiving huge fees for the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Luka Modric.
And this is all done while filling the squad with exciting new talent, signed for relatively modest fees.
In fact it is this business acumen that has left Spurs with arguably the most valuable squad in the top tier of English football, when comparing fees paid out compared to current valuation.
OK, the value of players is subjective, but you would be hard pushed to find any football fan that does not think that Hugo Lloris (£11.8m), Kyle Walker (£5m), Toby Alderweireld (£11.4m), Jan Vertonghen (£9.5m), Danny Rose (academy), Dele Alli (£5m), Christian Eriksen (£11.5m) and Harry Kane (academy) are not now worth significantly more.

In fact the only players in Mauricio Pochettino’s current squad that have possibly not increased in value are Erik Lamela (£25.7m), Son Heung-min (£22m), Moussa Sissoko (£30m) and Vincent Janssen (£17m), with the latter two the only ones who could legitimately be described as flops – and it is still their first season.
How many of the division’s other “big six” could boast a record like that?
