How to pronounce Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has become a commonly asked question as the Napoli No.77 continues to take Europe by storm.

The Georgia international provided a stunning backheeled assist for Giovanni Di Lorenzo on Tuesday night, as Napoli recorded a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash.

With Kvaratskhelia quickly becoming a household name amongst football fans, many are keen to know how to say the 22-year-old’s name properly.

So, how do you pronounce Kvaratskhelia? Let’s take a look…

How to pronounce Kvaratskhelia

Well, thousands have decided to refer to the Georgian as Kvaradona – the nickname given to him by Napoli fans in reference to Diego Maradona – as they struggle to pronounce his name.

However, for those of you keen to do things properly, Kvaratskhelia is pronounced phonetically as follows.

K-varat-shek-elia

You can hear the Napoli sensation’s name being pronounced on BT Sport below as he ran rings around Sassuolo in a recent 2-0 win for Luciano Spalletti’s side in Serie A.

In our view, it would be wise to learn how to pronounce Kvaratskhelia properly, as it seems the Tbilisi-born superstar is going right to the summit of European football.

At the age of just 22, the 6ft forward has remarkably registered 27 goal involvements in just 25 appearances this season, in what is his first taste of football in a top European league.

Kvaratskhelia has scored 12 goals and provided 15 assists for Napoli in the 2022/23 campaign so far.

How much did Napoli pay for Kvaratskhelia?

Amazingly, Napoli only paid €10m (£9m) to sign Kvaratskhelia from Dinamo Batumi back in July 2022.

That arguably represents the signing of the decade, let alone the season, as Napoli now appear to have a £150m footballer on their hands – at least.

As aforesaid, Kvaratskhelia is only 22, so if this is what he can do in his first taste of a top European league, it is frightening to think about what the future holds.
