Manchester City winger Phil Foden has come 25th in this year’s Ballon d’Or voting. And supporters on social media are not pleased about the news.
France Football confirmed on their official Twitter account that the England international had ranked ahead of the likes of Nicolo Barella, Gerard Moreno and City teammate Ruben Dias.
However, City fans were fuming that the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Harry Kane, and more importantly, England rival Mason Mount, all finished ahead of Foden in voting for the Ballon d’Or.
The two Premier League superstars have often been compared given their qualities on the pitch and their roles for England, with the duo key players for the future of the Three Lions.
Indeed, in doing so has created an online war between City and Chelsea fans, with the two groups trying to one-up one another over the debate between Foden and Mount.
And the Ballon d’Or voting this year will no doubt add more fuel to the fire for this online argument. With Mount coming 19th in the overall rankings, largely based on his form in the UEFA Champions League.
City fans rage at Ballon d’Or placement for Foden

Whilst it was some achievement for Foden to even be shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or award, some City fans on social media are enraged with how low the attacker came in the final vote.
The 13-cap England international is seen as one of the club’s best players, with Pep Guardiola a huge fan of Foden and the youngster already a cult hero at the Etihad Stadium. And City fans believe their homegrown superstar deserved higher than 25th.
Here’s what some supporters had to say on Twitter about Foden’s ranking in the Ballon d’Or…
