Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has said on Twitter that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United were wrongly allowed a penalty against Sam Allardyce’s Leeds United at Elland Road in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Keys, who is now at beIN SPORT, has said that Junior Firpo was wrongly adjudged to have handled the ball in the second half during the match between Leeds and Newcastle.

The Whites and the Magpies have played out a 2-2 draw with each other this afternoon.

Callum Wilson scored both the goals for Newcastle.

And both of them came from the penalty spot.

Leeds defender Junior Firpo was the one who gave away the penalty in the second half.

VAR ruled that the former Barcelona left-back had handled the ball.

Keys does not agree with it.

Richard Keys on Leeds United vs Newcastle United controversy

The result does not help either Leeds United or Newcastle United really.

There is still a chance that Liverpool could catch Newcastle and usurp them in the Premier League top four this season.

After all, the Magpies are now only four points ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool in third place.

Leeds remain third from bottom in the Premier League tale with 31 points from 36 matches.
