Rangers are bringing back Kyle Lafferty.

Rangers have re-signed Kyle Lafferty and the Daily Record report he could even make his debut tomorrow night.

This will be Lafferty’s second spell with Rangers, the club he grew up supporting.

But did you know Lafferty once came close to signing with their rivals Celtic as a teenager?

While a 19-year-old prospect at Burnley, Celtic made an approach for the young striker, and Lafferty admitted he was tempted by Gordon Strachan’s side.

He told SkySports at the time: “Celtic are a huge club and I’m honoured to be the subject of a bid.

“Obviously there is a long way to go but I will be talking to my club and my agent. I will also have to have a long chat with my mum and dad.

“I grew up supporting Rangers but that won’t stand in my way. Celtic are massive and the lure of European football is very appealing.”

A year later Rangers came in and he jumped at the chance to move to Ibrox.

He played more than 130 games for Rangers, scoring 38 goals, before leaving in 2012.

After a career since spent in Italy, Switzerland, and most recently with Hearts, Lafferty is now set to return with Rangers and will get the chance to down Celtic when the two sides meet on September 2.
