Leeds United striker has more to give.
Patrick Bamford entered the season for Leeds United as a man under pressure.
This was down to a combination of factors. Injuries meant he never really showed Leeds fans what he was all about last season, before he disgraced himself by feigning injury which got him in the play-offs.
Failing to score in pre-season did not help either.
With all of that in mind, Bamford should be very satisfied at the way he has scored four goals in six games so far.
The challenge for Bamford is that loanee Eddie Nketiah is putting pressure on him. This could work in Bamford’s favour, pushing him to raise his game.
There is one way Bamford can become undroppable, and that is by developing his game to become a creator.
Bamford has one assist this season for Leeds, commendable through six games, but there is always room for improvement.
The Leeds striker has created just three chances in six matches, a figure which he needs to work on.
Potentially playing with Nketiah may help him with this.
But when it comes to choosing between the two, both Nketiah and Bamford have credible cases, they are each natural goalscorers, but both a bit one dimensional.
Bamford can separate himself by focusing on becoming a creator, and linking up better with his Leeds teammates.
If he can do this, and start creating chances regularly as well as scoring goals, then he really will be undroppable to manager Marcelo Bielsa.
