The Bhoys midfielder has returned to Parkhead early.
What next for Scott Allan?
Having struggled to assert himself since moving to Celtic from Hibernian 18 months ago, the midfielder was farmed out on loan by new boss Brendan Rodgers, who failed to include him in any of the six matchday squads for which he was available.
A spell at Rotherham was supposed to show Rodgers what he was missing, but the only thing missing was in fact Allan – whose whereabouts following Alan Stubbs’ departure as manager were until now unknown.

On Monday, Allan was pictured back training with Celtic – albeit doing running work with the recovering Kieran Tierney – six months before he was due to return. And according to the Daily Record, his spell in South Yorkshire has been brought to a premature end.
FIFA rules stipulate that Allan is unable to feature for the Bhoys until next month’s trip to Scottish Cup trip to Albion Rovers – the perfect fixture, perhaps, for Rodgers to take a closer look at him.
However, with Celtic recently linked to string of central midfielders including Everton’s James McCarthy, even a career-best performance would not guarantee the 25-year-old’s long-term future at Parkhead.

And having already appeared for one club this season, even a second of competitive football for the Bhoys would prevent Allan from turning out for another until the 2017-18 campaign.
If he wants to avoid another six months in the wilderness, a new club coming in before then is perhaps his best bet.
