HITC understands that Newcastle United are continuing to brush off speculation surrounding the future of Bruno Guimaraes.

It has been a frustrating summer transfer window for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United with the Magpies making just one first-team addition this summer in the form of goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos from Nottingham Forest for £20 million.

HITC reported back in June that Manchester City were exploring a deal for midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle . There was some concern from those within Newcastle that the Brazilian’s £100 million release clause would be triggered.

However, the time has elapsed on Guimaraes’ release clause and Newcastle have reiterated their stance on the midfielder’s future.

Newcastle brushing off Bruno Guimaraes speculation

Arsenal, Liverpool and City all hold an interest in the Brazilian midfielder and speculation over the Newcastle star’s future is refusing to go away.

Sources close to all three clubs insist that they have felt, even this month, that a deal could be possible. However, whether a deal would be feasible with just over two weeks to go before the window slams shut remains to be seen.

Earlier this window, Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon was attracting interest from Liverpool with Arne Slot’s side keen on adding to their forward line this summer and the Englishman was seen as the perfect fit.

This was near the end of June, with Newcastle’s PSR issues rearing their heads but the Magpies sold Yanbkuba Minteh to Brighton & Hove Albion which resolved the financial problem and the club kept Gordon.

Newcastle sources respond to Guimaraes leaving

The Magpies have struck an agreement with Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi and they will be hoping this will kickstart their summer business.

As for Guimaraes, sources have to HITC that the idea of Guimaraes leaving is a ‘fanciful’ one and that the club have no desire or plans to allow him to leave.

Newcastle have endured a difficult transfer widow to date, but keeping their key players Guimaraes, Alexander Isak and Gordon has been imperative and they have succeeded in that regard.

Whilst they do not expect Guimaraes to leave, they also don’t see Isak and Gordon – who themselves have been subject of intense speculation to leave with the Swedish striker attracting the interest of Chelsea.
