Wayne Rooney has completed his move from Manchester United to Everton.
Wayne Rooney has returned ‘home’. Earlier today, Everton announced on their official website that they have secured the services of the England international forward.
As announced on Everton’s official website, Rooney has rejoined the Toffees from Manchester United on a two-year contract.
The 31-year-old, who can also operate as a midfielder, left the Merseyside outfit for United back in 2004.
Over the past 13 years, Rooney was a key figure at Old Trafford, winning the Premier League five times, the FA Cup, the Champions League and the Europa League once each, and the League Cup on three occasions.
According to The Daily Mail, Rooney has taken a wage-cut to return to his boyhood club. The Englishman was reportedly earning £300,000 per week at United, but at Everton he will get around £150,000 per week.
It is still quite a lot of money to pay a 31-year-old forward who has struggled to play regularly for a while, but it is quite remarkable that Rooney took a 50% wage-cut in order to play for the club where he started his professional football career.
