Arsenal announced on their official website on Tuesday that they have stripped Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang off the captaincy.
Aubameyang has been punished for a disciplinary breach and will not play for Arsenal against West Ham United in the Premier League this week.
The striker is a senior figure at Arsenal, and, until now, was the club captain.
The 32-year-old has not been in great form this season, and he struggled during the 2020-21 campaign as well.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s poor Arsenal form
Aubameyang has made 12 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal so far this season.
The striker has scored four goals and provided one assist in those games.
The Arsenal no. 14 scored 10 goals and gave three assists in 26 Premier League starts last season.

It will be interesting to see what now happens with Aubameyang.
Could Arsenal decide to sell the former Borussia Dortmund striker in the January transfer window?
Would any club be willing to sign him?
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s salary and contract details
It is not going to be easy for Arsenal to move on the 32-year-old anytime soon.
The striker signed a new contract with Arsenal only in September 2020.
According to The Times, it was a three-year deal.
This means that Aubameyang is under contract at the Gunners until the summer of 2023.
Aubameyang also earns a lot of money.
The Times claim that the striker is on £250,000 per week as salary.
That figure goes near the £350,000-a-week mark once loyalty payments and bonuses are included, according to the report.
