The German striker is currently on loan at Elland Road from the Bundesliga side.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga of Leeds United reacts after a missed chance
In the summer Leeds United needed to replace Chris Wood. The New Zealand international made a big move to Premier League side Burnley and the West Yorkshire side went looking for a replacement.
In the end, it was former German under-21 international Pierre-Michel Lasogga who arrived. He was signed on a loan deal from Hamburg SV and had an instant impact at Elland Road. However, after his encouraging beginnings, the forward’s form has trailed off.

Which makes Hamburg’s current position perhaps in conflict with Leeds’ concerns. This week Hamburger Abendblatt have reported the club are in serious financial trouble. The report claims they are over €100m in debt and that their wage bill has rocketed.
With that considered, Hamburg will be very keen to allow Lasogga a permanent move to West Yorkshire. No agreement is present in the loan deal regarding a permanent switch, but considering the financial situation at Hamburg it would be no shock to see the Bundesliga side ready to let him join Leeds on the cheap.

Leeds however, especially the club’s fans, do not seem convinced on the player and a move in January looks increasingly unlikely.
The two teams may find themselves at loggerheads in the winter, especially if Hamburg want to recoup a fee for the player. An upturn in form would be beneficial to all parties.
