This November, Louis van Gaal will manage the Netherlands at just his second World Cup tournament as a coach.
The 71-year-old famously failed to qualify for the tournament in 2002 while in charge of his country, the first time that had happened since 1986.
Van Gaal then moved to Barcelona, before taking charge of the Netherlands once again in 2012 and guiding the Oranje to third place at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Now, eight years on from that tournament, the Dutchman has another chance to add to his immense record in Qatar.
How many trophies has Louis van Gaal won?
Van Gaal has been a manager since 1991, and in those 31 years, he has won an incredible amount of silverware – to say the very least.
The Amsterdam-born tactician has lifted 20 trophies during what has been an illustrious managerial career, including four Eredivisie titles, one Bundesliga title and two La Liga successes – according to Transfermarkt.

Van Gaal also guided Ajax to Champions League glory in 1995.
The Dutchman’s only stint in England was not too successful as he took over a chaotic Manchester United side, although he still managed to win the FA Cup while also introducing Marcus Rashford to senior football.
Louis van Gaal can win the World Cup for the Netherlands
As you can see, Van Gaal has won many trophies throughout his managerial career, although silverware at international level still eludes him.
However, we believe he can guide the Netherlands to success in Qatar this winter, in what is expected to be his final role in management before Ronald Koeman takes the reins after the tournament.
The Oranje possess many fantastic players who can make an impact in tight games, such as Memphis Depay, Cody Gakpo and Frenkie de Jong.
With the individual talent in Van Gaal’s squad, and his vast experience in management, there is no reason why the Dutchman cannot bow out of football with a World Cup trophy to add to his incredible collection.
