Tottenham and Real Madric icon Gareth Bale has confirmed his retirement on Instagram on Monday at the age of 33 after a wonderful career – but just how many trophies did the Wales superstar haul in, during his illustrious career?

Bale bows out of the professional game after making his debut almost 17 years ago. Aged just 16, boss George Burley handed Bale his debut for Southampton in April 2006 – a 2-0 win for the Saints over Millwall. Now, he has retired.

Since then, he has gone on to produce a masterful career. Moments including his hat-trick for Tottenham in the San Siro against Inter, captaining Wales at a World Cup, a brace in the Champions League final – scoring an overhead kick.

His goal in the Copa Del Rey final in which he runs around a Barcelona defender on the touchline, before scoring. He ends his career with 554 games, a huge 186 goals and 132 assists – last playing for Wales at the Qatar World Cup.

So, just how many trophies did Bale win? Well, it will not come as a surprise to Spurs fans to know that he was part of the squad that won Tottenham their last trophy – a League Cup in 2009. But it was at Madrid, where he won 17 titles.

A huge three La Liga titles, five Champions League trophies, a Copa Del Rey, a Spanish Super Cup, three UEFA Super Cups and four FIFA Club World Cups. An incredible haul, that he then continued in his last club stint – at LAFC.

Joining MLS side Los Angeles alongside Carlos Vela and Giorgio Chiellini, Bale helped win the MLS Cup, and the MLS Supporters’ Shield. So, a massive 20 titles in total – one with Spurs, 17 with Madrid and then another two with LAFC.

A stunning career, but also a real shame to end his career at just 33 years of age. But having struggled in Qatar, probably the right time for Bale to call it a day. It is unclear where Bale will now turn, in terms of what he does next.
