Pat Nevin praised Harry Kane for the manner in which he scored his goal for Tottenham in the FA Cup on Sunday, as he told BBC Sport.
The BBC pundit questioned ‘how many players would think to hit from that position’ as Kane pounced on a mistake to help his Spurs side survive a scare in the third round.
Antonio Conte’s side, heading deep into the second half, were fearing that they were going to get knocked out by League One Morecambe.
But the Italian brought on the likes of Kane and Lucas Moura, who punished a spirited, yet error-prone Morecambe team.
Kane showcased his world-class qualities to kill off the game towards the end and Nevin was impressed by what he saw from the 28-year-old.
“How many players would think to hit from that position?” said Nevin. “He has his back to the goal, he has turned and flicked it as he knows where the back post is.
“He instinctively knows where the back post is but it’s another mistake.
“You don’t make mistakes against top-class players, they will punish you. They certainly have.”

It will be interesting to see how Conte reacts to this performance because Spurs fans will have mixed feelings.
On one hand, a number of the backup players didn’t perform and nearly were the shock of the round.
So, with the January transfer window open, will Conte’s patience now go up in smoke and will the supporters see certain players departing?
One thing is for sure, something needs to change within this Spurs squad because there is a reason why they had three different managers in 2021.
