After gifting West Brom the winning goal on Saturday, is Boruc’s place in goal finally under scrutiny?

Eddie Howe’s continued patience with goalkeeper Artur Boruc for Bournemouth, though admirable, is starting to look somewhat misguided, following yet another costly error by the Polish international on Saturday against West Brom.
Boruc’s erratic style of play has landed him in trouble on numerous occasions across his career, from giving the ball away to Olivier Giroud when attempting to dribble round him in 2013, to a disastrous 45 minutes in December of last year against Liverpool, during which he ran far out of his area to leave an open goal.
In fact, Boruc has committed similar errors while playing for Celtic, Southampton and even Poland in his career, showing a lack of discipline in his style of play that has not yet been curbed.
For a club like Bournemouth, where concentration and team efficiency is of the utmost importance, individual errors of the sort Boruc has been producing are simply not acceptable, and can only affect the team spirit poorly.
Unfortunately for Howe, the Cherries currently have no better option, with the young and untested Ryan Allsop and Aaron Ramsdale waiting in the wings because of Adam Federici’s long term injury. However, should they make it to the summer unscathed, changes between the sticks surely have to be made.
