How long will Samu Saiz be satisfied at Leeds if promotion eludes them?

The summer signing has been Leeds United’s best player by some margin this season.

Of all Leeds United’s summer signings one has shone brighter than the rest in the form of Samu Saiz, with the play-maker excelling even when those around him are flattering to deceive.

When Leeds click it is a sight to behold, but too often in recent weeks the vast majority of their starting XI have looked out of sorts, consistently out-performed by Saiz.

In short, the 26-year-old is a class act and a player of his quality will only be satisfied in the Championship for so long, especially when you consider his list of suitors is likely to be growing with every starring role.

With a contract until 2021, Leeds seemingly hold all the cards when it comes to the Spaniard’s future but, as they found with Chris Wood, every player has a price.

Saiz has what it takes to excel in the Premier League and he will no doubt be hoping to get there with Leeds. The problem is, for every 3-0 win against Bristol City there is a defeat to the likes of Sheffield United, Reading, Cardiff City or Sheffield Wednesday, and there have been too many setbacks in a short space of time.

Saiz cannot do it all on his own – although he sometimes tries to – and his Leeds teammates need to up their own games, using his as inspiration.

The Whites have the squad to finish in the top six this season, but only if they all pull their weight. Otherwise Leeds could face a challenge keeping the recent addition satisfied for the duration of his deal.
