Tottenham Hotspur should give the talented teenager more minutes with Janssen struggling for form.
Tottenham Hotspur signed Vincent Janssen in the hope that he would bring his Eredivisie form to the Premier League, but as yet that has not happened.
Instead the Dutchman has struggled alarmingly, and with only one goal in 15 Premier League appearances it looks like a gamble that has not paid off for Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Of course things can change quickly in football, and it would be unfair to brand Janssen a flop when he is still young enough to learn from his initial struggles and improve as a result.
That said, Tottenham do have other options, even if at first glance it seems Janssen is the only viable backup to Harry Kane.
While Pochettino has often been quick to give youth a chance, the one area of the field where that has not been the case is up front, where 19-year-old Shayon Harrison waits patiently for his opportunity to shine.
The teenager may be inexperienced but would he really do any worse than Janssen is right now?

After all, Marcus Rashford bypassed Manchester United’s under-23s altogether to go straight from the under-18s to the senior side, while Harrison is making a habit of scoring for Tottenham’s second string.
So far this season Harrison has scored five goals in eight under-23 matches and he deserves to have a few of the minutes Janssen has got in recent games, having only managed seven in the EFL Cup earlier this season.
The Tottenham youngster’s time will come; there is no doubt about that. But he would be forgiven for wondering just when that will be when a misfiring striker who needs some time out of the spotlight continues to struggle with no sign of a change in his fortunes.
