Mohamed Salah has come a very long way.

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah is the man of the moment and is hotly tipped to win Premier League player of the year awards.

He has scored 28 goals in 30 league games this season for the Reds… and counting.

Understandably, Salah is a Liverpool fan favourite, but it was not always that way.

Salah came close to signing for Liverpool once before, back in 2014, before they were outbid and outmanoeuvred by Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea for his signature.

It could have been critical for their chances of winning the 2013/14 title, with their efforts falling flat with three games to go.

But opinion at the time was not high of Salah, as Liverpool fans made clear.

After one of his early performances for Chelsea in a loss against Manchester City, Liverpool fans were quick to dismiss the Egyptian.

Here is a look at some of these comments from February 2014.

To be fair, Mohamed Salah did little at Chelsea to make Liverpool fans jealous, although at the Reds he likely would have been given a proper run of games to show what he can do.

Salah left Chelsea as soon as he could, departing on loan before making a permanent exit.

He rebuilt his career at Roma, and at Liverpool has reached a new level of Luis Suarez-esque performances which fans thought they may never see again after the Uruguayan was sold.
