Liverpool reportedly had the chance to sign two brilliant centre-backs this summer but failed to act.

According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf and later printed in England by the Sun, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp turned down the chance to sign Davinson Sanchez and Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, so just imagine what the Reds’ line-up could have looked like if they had signed that brilliant pair.
The report claims Liverpool were given the chance to sign Koulibaly from Napoli for £57million, while the Reds also opted not to move for Sanchez prior to his £42million switch to Tottenham Hotspur from Ajax.

Sanchez has been exceptional since arriving at Spurs while Koulibaly has helped Napoli surge to the top of Serie A with a 100 per cent record after seven matches.
In contrast, Liverpool’s centre-backs have continued to struggle and they are very much the weak link in an otherwise impressive squad.
If Klopp had a decent defensive pairing to call on, his team could be genuine title challengers this season. As it is they will be fighting for a top-four finish, especially while their forwards continue to struggle to put weaker teams to the sword.
Here we take a look at what Liverpool’s starting XI could look like if they had made big moves in the summer window and signed both Sanchez and Koulibaly.
