Jannik Sinner’s Miami Open triumph has raised expectations heading into the clay season.

The Italian star secured the title last Sunday with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Jiri Lehecka, completing the Sunshine Double.

Sinner did not drop a set across Indian Wells and Miami.

That level of control has shifted attention to what comes next.

The Monte-Carlo Masters now carries added weight.

Jannik Sinner’s Miami Open title raises stakes for Monte-Carlo

According to tennis journalist Jose Morgado, the top of the rankings will be on the line in Monte-Carlo following Sinner’s dominant run at the Sunshine Double.

There is a 190-point gap between the 24-year-old and Carlos Alcaraz.

In that context, the Italian needs at least a semi-final run to have a chance of overtaking him.

That scenario adds pressure to his clay-court transition.

Withdrawals could shape early dynamics in Monte-Carlo

The tournament has already been affected by the absences of three top-10 players: Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton.

The reduced field could ease the path for leading contenders, and Sinner and Alcaraz may obviously benefit from it.

However, expectations remain high regardless of the field.

Sinner’s recent dominance ensures he will be closely watched.

His Miami success has set a new standard and Monte-Carlo will reveal whether he can meet it.
