The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder previously played for Derby County on loan.
Derby County were linked with a move for Tom Carroll by the Mirror in the summer – could they renew their interest in the Tottenham Hotspur player this month?

How is he getting on?
Despite being handed a surprise new three-year contract in the summer, Carroll has not progressed as he would have liked. Aside from a minute’s worth of Premier League action the 24-year-old has made just two EFL Cup appearances all season, with Harry Winks superceding him in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
Do Derby County still need him?
Perhaps not urgently. However, the Rams did sell midfielder Jeff Hendrick to Burnley and failed to replace him. Manager Steve McClaren has been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest’s Henri Lansbury and Carroll could be an option if that deal does not happen.
Can they get him in January?
Derby had to sell to buy in the summer but recent links with Jordan Rhodes suggest the money is there for McClaren. With the Rams now reportedly out of the running for Rhodes (they hope to recall Chris Martin), it could go towards a player like Carroll instead. Having been promoted with Queens Park Rangers in 2014 and played 40 times for Spurs and Swansea in the Premier League, the midfielder could be a useful addition.
