West Bromwich Albion are one of several sides linked with a move for Everton striker Oumar Niasse last summer (Mirror).
No Baggies move for the Senegalese materialised, however, allowing Hull City to pounce during the January transfer window.
But with the threat of relegation continuing to loom over the Tigers, could West Brom finally get their man this summer?
How’s he getting on?
After seven goalless games for Everton, Niasse has been quick to prove his critics wrong with four goals in 11 games for Hull. The 26-year-old could have gone abroad last summer, but chose to stay in the hope he’d finally get a chance to do exactly that.
Do West Brom still need him?
Yes. The Baggies have failed to score in five of their last six fixtures, with their only recognised striker, Salomon Rondon, on a drought stretching back to December – around the time the Colombian was linked with a move to China. Fellow front men Rickie Lambert and Saido Berahino were sold and never replaced.
Could they get him this summer?
It’s very possible. The need for him is there, while Everton are sure to co-operate should an approach come in. Hull’s survival, however, could dent any hope that West Brom might have, with a return to the KCOM Stadium likely to appeal.
Verdict: 7/10 – Everton will almost certainly let him go, although the Baggies may not be alone if they decided to renew their interest.
