West Bromwich Albion are said to have blocked a deadline day bid for Morrison from Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.
West Bromwich Albion are said to have blocked Celtic’s attempt to sign James Morrison on deadline day, but could the Bhoys renew their interest in January?

How is he getting on?
Having been a bit-part player throughout the first two months of the campaign, Morrison recently enjoyed a six-game run as a starter until he was benched again for Saturday’s defeat at the hands of Manchester United. The Scotland international’s return to prominence has coincided with Nacer Chadli’s lack of fitness, however, and he could find his opportunities limited now the Belgian is back.
Do Celtic still need him?
Repeated links to a number of central midfield players – namely, James McCarthy, Jordon Mutch and Conor Hourihane – would suggest the answer is yes. Kris Commons recently joined Hibernian on a month’s loan and a longer-term deal could perhaps clear the way for Morrison’s arrival at Parkhead.

Can they sign him next month?
Much depends on West Brom’s ability to land their own targets, of which a midfielder is thought to be one. Any such arrival is likely to impede Morrison’s game time and with 18 months left on his deal he could be sold if the price is right. That, it seems, will be the tricky bit, with the Daily Record reporting that Morrison wanted the move to Celtic in August.
Verdict: Will depend on Hawthorns arrivals.
Would Morrison be a good signing for the Bhoys?
