Jordan Botaka left Leeds last summer to join Belgian side Sint-Truiden.
Plenty of blame has been directed at Leeds United’s director of football Victor Orta for the Whites’ lack of success in the transfer market this season, but it can be argued that the Whites have always struggled in the transfer market.
Orta has masterminded transfers for stars such as Samu Saiz, Ezgjan Alioski and Adam Forshaw, but he has been blamed for the likes of Mateusz Klich, Madger Gomes, Pawel Cibicki and other flop 2017-18 signings.
But Leeds have struggled ever since they reached the Championship from League One. Under former owner, Massimo Cellino, there were plenty of flops signings including infamous stars such as Dario Del Fabro, Brian Montenegro and more.
Another flop from the Cellino era, Jordan Botaka, finally left Elland Road in the summer of 2017 to move to Belgium with Jupiler League side Sint-Truiden, after a disappointing loan spell with League One side Charlton.
Known for his quick feet and skill on the ball, the DR Congo international struggled at Leeds where he managed just 14 appearances for the Whites in a two-year period.
Although game time has dramatically improved for the former Excelsior 26-year-old, he has managed to only score two goals in 26 games for the top-flight Belgians.
A 15-time international, Botaka has plenty of promise and the ability to excite the fans, but his end product and actual impact in the final third needs to significantly improve if he is to make it big.
