Lookman had gone out on loan to Red Bull Leipzig and impressed in the 2017/18 season, yet he returned to Everton and continued to play a bit part role.
The England youth international made just three Premier League starts for Everton, with Marco Silva often overlooking him.
It could well be even more difficult for Lookman to get back into Everton’s team next season too.
Silva appears to have a winger in his sights, as he looks to strengthen Everton’s attack next term.
The likes of Bertrand Traore (Liverpool Echo) and David Neres (Telegraph) have both been linked with moves this summer.
With Gylfi Sigurdsson, Bernard, Richarlison and Theo Walcott all seemingly ahead of Lookman already at Everton, the 21-year-old’s chances of breaking into the Toffees’ starting team are starting to look bleak.
And it may be best for all parties if the £11 million (BBC Sport) attacker leaves this summer, for the good his development.
