Leeds United tried hard in the summer to sign Abel Hernandez.
The forward was a free agent after his release from Hull City and the Yorkshire Evening Post reported Leeds were ready to pay his £50,000 per week wages.
In the end a deal could not be struck and Hernandez chose to move to Russia and sign with CSKA Moscow.
Leeds are not suffering for Hernandez’s decision, sitting pretty at the top of the Championship.
Even their expensive new signing Patrick Bamford is spending his season on the bench so far.

The signs from his spell in Russia so far are unconvincing.
The Uruguayan striker has scored two goals in five games so far, one of which was a penalty.
He has not netted in his last two games, and his CSKA Moscow side have only won two games so far.
They sit in sixth place after six games, 10 points off the leaders.
Hernandez could have been a good signing for Leeds, but he would have been a very costly one in terms of wages.
So far Leeds should not be worried that they missed out.
