Gary Neville was left surprised on Sky Sports after finding out that Liverpool finished third for the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.
A number of months ago, Liverpool were losing six home games on the bounce and dropping down the table like a fly.
Some were even questioning whether Liverpool were going to go from being champions to missing out on Europe altogether.
But during the last run, those on Merseyside fought back, including beating Crystal Palace on the final day of the season, as Neville reacted to them securing third.
“Have they finished third?” questioned and squeaked Neville as he saw the final Premier League table. “Have they finished third?
“How has that happened? (Neville is then told by Jamie Redknapp that it’s ‘always the plan’.”
On whether it’s a great achievement: “It is. I know I was joking then.”

This season will be a huge sigh of relief for Liverpool because it will be known for the countless number of injuries they have suffered.
It will be interesting to see how Liverpool target the summer transfer market because some refreshment will be needed.
But, from a defensive standpoint, Liverpool will have Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez back and firing next term, so will another centre-back be needed, especially given Nat Phillips’ form and rise?
