For selfish reasons, Tottenham Hotspur received some good news on Thursday.
It was announced that France boss Didier Deschamps had left Spurs midfielder Tanguy Ndombele out of his squad for the next round of international fixtures a little later this month.
By virtue of the fact that he is only back from a minor injury, the news has gone down well with some Tottenham supporters, whose side face Manchester City after the international break.
The 24-year-old is now a pretty big and important player for Lilywhites boss Jose Mourinho following an inauspicious first year in North London.
And if he were absent against City after picking up an injury – or a virus – while representing his country then it would’ve been terrible news.
It’s unclear as to whether Deschamps snubbed the Tottenham star because of his recent knock or because he simply fancies the likes of Paul Pogba, Moussa Sissoko and Adrien Rabiot a little more.
Either way, Spurs fans on Twitter don’t seem overly bothered by the snub.
