Well, one reported Tottenham Hotspur managerial target has just received perhaps the highest praise of all.
The Daily Mail reported in April that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was considering Scott Parker as Jose Mourinho’s long-term successor in North London.
Parker has been relegated from the Premier League with Fulham this season but the Cottagers caught the eye for their expansive, attacking style of football that has reportedly earned him consideration for the Spurs job.
Sir Alex Ferguson is arguably the finest manager in the history of top-flight football following a gargantuan 27-year stint at Manchester United which ended in 2013.
And the iconic Scot has reserved praise for the young 40-year-old coach.
He told LadBible: “I think the boy Parker at Fulham has done a great job. I’ve watched them a lot and they keep playing their football. They don’t change. They stick with the beliefs of their manager and I think that’s a great indication of how good he is.”
It remains to be seen who Tottenham will be appointing as Mourinho’s replacement.
This has been dragging on for about a month now and Levy doesn’t seem any closer to hiring anybody.
There was an interesting development on Friday when another linked coach in the form of Nuno Espirito Santo resigned from Wolverhampton Wanderers, but it has since been reported that there’s no correlation between that and the role in North London.
Brendan Rodgers and Julian Nagelsmann have both turned down the job, but there remains interesting names – like Max Allegri and Antonio Conte for instance – and it’ll be fascinating to see who they wind up with.
And even more fascinating if it’s Parker.
