Liverpool missed the chance to move six points clear at the top of the Premier League table on Wednesday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were held to a 0-0 draw away to Newcastle United on what was a bit of a disappointing day for the Premier League champions.
But there was one big positive in the form of Thiago.
The 29-year-old, a £20 million summer signing from Bayern Munich, had only played two league games for the champions prior to last night due to injury.
But Thiago had a 17-minute cameo on Tyneside and looked very lively in what could be a taste of things to come from the Spain international.
Despite having such a little amount of time to impress, the former Barcelona gem did so nonetheless and here’s what Klopp said about the Michael Edwards signing afterwards.
He told BBC Sport: “We could see a lot of moments how good a footballer he is. Now we have to see how he reacts and all that stuff. We have another game in four days.”
With Naby Keita yoyo-ing in and out of the treatment room and Fabinho forced to play in central defence for potentially the rest of the season, it’s vital that Liverpool keep Thiago fit.
It’s going to be a big second half of the campaign and the more they see of their midfielder, the more chance they’ll have of defending their title.
