Everton picked up a much-needed victory on Sunday afternoon, beating Watford 3-2 at Goodison Park – having been 2-0 down with 25 minutes to play.

Having endured a miserable season to date, Everton were in desperate need of a positive result against Watford, just days after losing 3-0 to Lyon in Thursday’s Europa League clash.

However, it seemed that Everton were heading for another defeat on Sunday, as Richarlison and Christian Kabasele struck to give Watford a 2-0 second half lead.

With 25 minutes to play, Everton needed a miracle, and that started to come to fruition when Oumar Niasse and Dominic Calvert-Lewin pulled goals back to make it 2-2.

Chaos ensued in the dying stages as Leighton Baines scored from the penalty spot to give Everton a shock 3-2 lead, but Watford did get a penalty themselves with just moments left to play – but Tom Cleverley missed the target to hand Everton all three points.

Caretaker boss David Unsworth has got his first win in charge of the club, and his players took to Twitter after Sunday’s final whistle to react.

Winger Aaron Lennon was delighted to see Goodison Park rocking again after a dramatic comeback, whilst substitute Ademola Lookman – who made a huge impact coming off the bench – admitted that the fans were ‘unbelievable’.

Midfielder Idrissa Geye also thanked the fans for their support, with backup goalkeeper Joel Robles also celebrating three points as Everton hope to turn their season around.
