Draymond Green has always been a crucial member of the Golden State Warriors under Steve Kerr’s coaching.

Despite not being the outright superstar of the team like Stephen Curry, Draymond Green has played an instrumental role in the Golden State Warriors’ success in the Steve Kerr era.

Coach Kerr has led the Dubs to four NBA Championships during his stint, but he wouldn’t have done it without Green’s role as the defensive anchor and the vocal leader of the team.

However, in recent years, Green’s on-court play has declined, and his controversies have been on a steady rise.

Draymond Green says he doesn’t need Steve Kerr to support him

As the head coach of the team, Kerr has always been expected to support his players, including Green. But according to the veteran defender himself, coach Kerr grew frustrated with his antics.

“My head coach, Steve Kerr, came up to me and he said, ‘Man, it’s become incredibly hard to support you publicly.’ I said back to him, ‘Don’t. I’m fine. I don’t need you to support me publicly,'” Green said.

He added, “I could see the weight lifted off his shoulders. Like, what? Yeah. Don’t.”

Green also pointed out that it was a reality check for NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith, who has butted heads with the Warriors star multiple times.

Coming back to Green’s revelation about the important conversation with Kerr, it shows the terrific bond that the two have built over the years.

But can this bond play an important role in aiding the Warriors to make yet another NBA Championship run? Only time will tell.
