Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Ibrahima Konate has been speaking about his admiration for Virgil van Dijk.
The Frenchman arrived at Liverpool this summer, and as a new centre-back at Anfield he’s inevitably been inspired by his teammate.
Van Dijk is undoubtedly one of the best centre-backs in the world and Konate says that he wants to emulate and learn from his teammate.
What’s Konate said about van Dijk?
Konate spoke about how much he admires the defender.
“Van Dijk, yes, I think he has more experience than me and I hope in time I have this. I can just learn about him. Sometimes I see some actions of his and I’m like ‘oh my god, how does he do it? I will try to do this in the next game,’ it’s like that, yes,” Konate said.

Best mentor available
To be honest, Konate has the best mentor available to him in the shape of van Dijk.
The Dutchman is one of the best defenders on the planet, and Konate is a very similar player in that he’s a big, strong and quick centre-half.
If Konate is able to learn a thing or two from the Dutchman then he could well end up being an absolute star in the Premier League.
