Some Arsenal fans on Twitter have been blown away by Emiliano Martinez’s latest performance for Aston Villa.
The Gunners sold the Argentine goalkeeper to Dean Smith’s side in a £20 million deal back in September.
It was a very contentious decision at the time by virtue of the fact that Martinez had played a huge role in helping Arsenal to an FA Cup title in the absence of the injured Bernd Leno.
In fact, he was arguably the North Londoners’ best player during Project Restart but Mikel Arteta decided that Leno would be reclaiming the number one spot for this season, prompting Martinez to leave.
But it’s certainly worked out well for the 28-year-old, who produced a stormer for Aston Villa in the 0-0 draw away to Brighton & Hove Albion last night.
He was far and away the Villans’ best player during the 90 minutes and wound up been the difference maker, as he so often was for Arsenal last season.
This was Martinez’s 12th clean sheet of the season and in contrast, Leno was issued a straight red card in his most recent appearance for the Emirates Stadium side.
