How divine intervention helped Tottenham defeat United

Did Tottenham have help from above in beating Manchester United?

At the beginning of last season Tottenham fans would have said being struck by lightening was more likely than their side winning twice in a row at Old Trafford.

Yet here we stand on January 2, 2014, and the unthinkable has just occurred, with Spurs and Tim Sherwood revelling in their first back to back win at the stadium since 1974.

David Moyes may be blaming Howard Webb for his side’s defeat, but if he really does not want to look in the mirror, should he be casting his eye to a higher power instead?

For Tottenham had a special fan in attendance on the away trip, the UK’s chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis.

The leader of the country’s Jewish community posted a photo on his Twitter page at Old Trafford ahead of the game, hoping he would bring good luck to the away side.

It certainly worked, as Tottenham edged over the line to record a famous 2-1 win and go three points above United in the Premier League table.

Perhaps this one was simply meant to be.
