‘How dare they’: Some Spurs & Villa fans react to Wednesday’s heartbreaking calls

Tottenham and Aston Villa fans reacted on Twitter to the decisions to leave their players out -Steven Bergwijn and Anwar El Ghazi – for Holland’s final Euro 2020 squad.

Both wingers by trade, Tottenham’s speedster has recently been part of Holland’s set-up, whilst Aston Villa’s technical wide man was hoping to return.

And after being named in Frank de Boer’s provisional squad, he left both of them out when he cut it short on Wednesday.

Whilst Tottenham fans aren’t surprised at Bergwijn’s exclusion given the season he has had, the Villa Park faithful are more annoyed at the heartbreaking call on El Ghazi.

The former Ajax man has scored ten Premier League goals this season in Villa colours and that despite not starting a game in the league until the 11th match of the campaign.

On one hand, both will be fresh and ready to go for Tottenham and Villa, respectively next term.

But it is a shot in the arm for the duo, who get to miss out on the chance to represent their country on one of the biggest stages.

However, this should be used as fuel for next season, for Bergwijn to get back on track and showcase his worth.

Whilst El Ghazi should bottle this up, unleash it next season and take his game to even bigger heights.
