Cooper Flagg made his feelings clear when asked whether he would rather represent his home region with the Boston Celtics than continue his journey with the Dallas Mavericks.

The rising NBA star grew up in Maine, which naturally connects him to Boston’s passionate basketball fanbase.

But when the question came up, Flagg had a straightforward answer about where he feels he belongs.

Cooper Flagg shuts down Boston Celtics question

Mike Curtis shared the moment when Cooper Flagg was asked if playing closer to home with the Boston Celtics would appeal to him.

“Nah, I love being a Maverick. That’s home, and I don’t want anything else,” Flagg responded.

The response showed just how comfortable Flagg already feels with the Dallas Mavericks despite the natural pull of his New England roots.

Being from Maine means Boston was the closest NBA city growing up, but Flagg made it clear that his focus remains firmly on Dallas.

For Mavericks fans, the answer will only strengthen the sense that the young star sees his future with the franchise.

Cooper Flagg reflects on playing in Boston

Although Flagg ruled out any desire to move, he still acknowledged how special it is for him to play in Boston when the opportunity arises.

“It was incredible to be able to play here, obviously this is the place where I came as a kid and got to watch, so I think it’s going to be incredibly fun for the rest of my career for me to be able to come here and play in front of this crowd,” Flagg stated.

The comments reflect the emotional connection many players feel when returning to arenas tied to their childhood memories.

For Flagg, Boston represents a place where his love of basketball first developed. But even with that history, the Mavericks remain the team he currently calls home.
