Could Liverpool also miss out on Timo Werner this month?

Liverpool’s interest in Timo Werner has been well documented.
In fact, Bild reported last week that Liverpool could snap up the Leipzig hitman for £36 million.
Considering the 22-year-old’s potential, it would be quite a coup for the Reds, and the perfect tonic to seeing long-time target Christian Pulisic join Chelsea.
But could it also be Chelsea’s fault if Jurgen Klopp misses out on Werner?
According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund have entered the race to sign the German marksman.
Problem is, the Bundesliga giants now have £58 million from the sale of Pulisic, meaning they could seriously challenge Liverpool for his signature.
It wouldn’t strictly be Chelsea’s fault if Werner winds up joining Dortmund, but it’d be a major kick in the teeth for the Anfield club.
Liverpool will know that their Premier League rivals effectively funded their misfortune.
Plus, that £36 million price-tag might end up being wide of the mark. If Leipzig spark a bidding war, which is no doubt their wish, then the fee will go way, way up.
Time will tell whether he ends up on Merseyside, but if he doesn’t then it might be an unexpected double success for the Blues.
